THE 5 DAY PLASTERING COURSE

A popular 5 Day Plastering Course for the DIY enthusiast, general builder or trades person. This course is suitable for both Male and Female canditates and no prior experience is required for any of our Plastering courses.

This course is intended as an entry level course for people who have little or no prior experience of the plastering trade, but once completed you will be able to confidently take on smaller more straight forward plastering tasks around your own home or smaller building projects for paying clients. This could consist of repairing damaged wall and ceilings, Re-Skimming prior to Re-Decoration or Tiling works etc..

HEATLH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS, INCLUDING:

• The correct use and safe handling of materials and tools.
• Planing and fixing of gypsum plasterboard.
• Applying jointing tape to joints prior to skim coat plastering
• Learning the knack of the hawk and trowel
• Applying various different plaster coatings to a selection of Wall and Ceiling surfaces, including blockwork.
• You will be shown how to safely cut, fix and plumb plaster angle beads. 
• Fixing of angle beads to Window Reveals and external corners
• Application of Priming agents.

  This is a practical course and at each stage before you start all modules will be demonstrated by your instructor.

Working in bays you will plasterboard the ceiling and all Wall areas including window columns. You will then be shown how to skim all plasterboarded areas  with Fininsh plaster. Your Window column will be angle beaded and floated with an undercoat gypsum plaster then skimmed with a top coat finishing plaster.You will also apply sand and cement render to a block work wall as well as applying sealers and primers as required prior to re-skimming. You will also be shown how to patch repair to damaged Wall areas.

The above course can BE CARRIED OUT OVER TWO CONSECUTIVE WEEKENDS
